Creativity + Virtualization =?

      Creativity is defined as novelty and useful, while virtualization enables team to employ geographically dispersed people who use technology and communication to accomplish their work across time and space [7]. How can we make these two perfectly align with each other and create a valuable outcome? Here, Team UPSTAIRS are presenting our final project with an innovative idea that utilizing advantages from both creativity and virtualization.

Introduction

 

I believe that High Performance Collaboration is one of the significant courses for me in the master study. I learnt a lot about the collaboration including the new concepts of cooperation, methods to communicate with others, opportunities and challenges in the virtual world and management in collaboration. In this reflection, I would like to review the whole course I learnt in the semester and introduce the theories applications in the assignment and projects. There are three major points, virtual organizing, negotiation and knowledge management, I want to emphasize.

Time flies pretty quickly, 13 weeks learning of High Performance Collaboration has come to an end. During that past 13 week, what I have learned about collaboration is quite important for me now and in future. Before engaged to this course, what I knew about collaboration are vague concepts. I thought collaboration was kind of team work, bring some people together and get the job done. This course have changed my opinion towards it, I have realized that team work has conflict and obstacles. To deal with conflict, we need appropriate skills of negotiation. To get obstacles overcome, we need to be creativity and innovative, so that we would be able to find out a new way to solve it. Professor Frank is very good at lecturing these knowledge and skills to us in class, he taught us with his daily experience, which made those complicated theories easier for understanding. Besides of lecturing, he also assigned us to build up a blog with creativity thoughts of company, which has brought me a lot of experience of how to become creative. In order to make us understand what we learned from the class and implement those knowledge and skills, he helped us to contact with evening class and ask us to corporate with them. This experience is special and impressive to me. So, I decided to write down what I have experienced from this teamwork and what I have learned from it, I hope my experience will help you guys, and let’s learn collaboration together.

After a semester of doing teamwork with my lovely teammates in High Performance Collaboration course, I experienced and learned a lot. Here, I would like to write my journey down, share my experience with my friends, and try to see how far I have come in teamwork, and how major obstacles seem to become minor speed bumps in hindsight.

Team 4 Assignment #1

Our group decided to focus on a few tactics that did work in our negotiation process from employer’s perspective. We chose to reveal the outcome of the negotiation process by a story in order for the readers to better understand our explanations.
